Telegram Communication Guide

Telegram is the best instant messenger in the world. Over 1 billion active users in the world. Do all understand how to use it the best way to achieve the most outcome? I don't think so. Don't be like many people who lost millions of dollars just because you trusted someone to do business and that person happens to be a fraud.

My close friend lost almost $700k because he lost all the communication done on Telegram. I have been a victim of scam of lost equipment worth more than $1.5 million with total damage of $3 million. Another colleague lost access to his Telegram account and lost contact and chat history of so many invaluable contacts.

Another friend hates receiving audio messages, so he opted to receive only text-based messages. Another good friend of mine lost his crypto money of $10k from the wallet, believing he had been contacted by Binance exchange. Every day users get added to scam groups and receive chat invites and voice calls from unknown and suspicious people.

Premium setup for the messenger. If you don't want to be bombarded with tons of messages notifying every second and distracting you from your life and work, please revisit my full guide on how to set up your messenger for the first time after installation. It will save you a lot of money and nerves.

Top 10 Ways to Be Efficient in Communication via Telegram and Save Your Money

An excellent guide for those who like to do thorough due diligence:

1. Chat Privately

You want to chat privately because only you and the sender/receiver can read the written message. There is something called end-to-end encryption that even Telegram servers cannot read the messages you send and receive when you chat privately. No cloud storage is involved; the data is stored locally on the device. Set auto-delete after a certain time has passed. No screenshots are allowed. Of course, you can take another phone to snap it. The messenger has a reputation for being secure with regular updates and improvements to its encryption protocols.

2. Organize Chats into Folders

Easy navigation. That's it. Break chats into folders by giving them a meaningful naming. It's easy to get lost and not able to find a specific chat or information. By organizing and decluttering chats, group chats, channels, and bots into folders, you will get an efficient workflow. Be sure to note that any message that has a reply to it will be highlighted so you don't forget to reply later.

Did you know? You can share the entire chat folder with someone else for them to be able to know your interests in specific channels. That saves a lot of your time and is easy peasy japanesy.

3. Unread a Message

The purpose of unreading a message is to come back to it later. You might want to do it for any particular reason. If a person knows you have read the message, meaning he/she sees two ticks on the message, he might wonder why you don't reply. Hence it's a peace of mind to unread a message.

4. Schedule Send a Message

For example, something comes to your mind, and you want to send a message to a colleague or a boss, but it's too late to send a message because you don't know if they have notifications on or not. Therefore, you can schedule send a message at a certain time and date. Whatever message you schedule will appear in a scheduled list. You may edit/delete the message.

5. Delete a Message for You and for All

There are two types of deletion. First is to delete for you meaning the post will be seen by the chat reader and participants as well as stored in the cloud storage. If you delete for everyone, the post will be deleted both from local device, chat participants, and cloud storage of Telegram.

6. Configure Privacy Settings

This is typically done in the Premium setup of Telegram messenger. The most important idea is whether the user wishes to allow anyone to be seen or added to a specific chat. In other words, stay humble and don't share anything mentality. "All", "contacts", or "nobody" are typical sorting, so you pick who you want to share your profile with: "online", "last seen online", or "phone number". It is best to hide your phone number so that call centers do not hunt for your number.

Another very important thing to note is to be able to forward a message and hide who the original sender is. Also, in case you don't want people coming back to you after you made a post because someone shared your message in a group, make sure to remove the link to your message. All those steps will be explained in the Premium setup.

Limiting voice calls and adding you to groups are also essential to know. If you have contacts inside the messenger, any of your contacts might like to voice call you, which is annoying, or add you to a group or channel irrelevant to your needs.

7. Security: 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication)

Two-factor authentication is simply another layer of security placed on top of the phone number verification. After enabling it, you will be asked to enter a 2FA password as well as a phone number code. Setting it up is easy. When you are set, you will protect your account from people eyeing to get access to your contacts and private chats. Imagine another SIM card with the same phone number has been issued randomly to another person, god forbid of course, you will lose access in a second.

8. Multi-Device Usage Including Web Sessions

Session in Telegram means one active logged-in device onto your account. Telegram allows being logged in on as many devices and platforms as possible. For example, you can be logged in on iPhone and Android devices simultaneously and write and send messages with an installed version on a PC or Mac. If you lose your device or you are on holiday and want to access Telegram securely without downloading the application, you may get access to your account via the web version.

Very important: log out of any session you won't come back to. If you have an active session, it means anyone can get access to it and get complete control of it.

9. Export Chat History from Telegram

Telegram will keep your data only for one year without logging back in. If you don't want to lose your data, it's best to export all data and save it on a hard drive.

Exporting is a bit of technical work. I will share the video guide with you. Exporting chat history won't work on mobile devices. If you are going to buy the Premium setup, I will send the video guide for you free.

Otherwise, I will teach you how to make a mirror copy of all chat history backed up on a new server.

10. Username, QR Code with Username, and Finding Anything on Telegram

Usernames allow you to be identified and found on Telegram messenger. To set it up, just make a username and save. Any username is good, but it's best to put your name and surname. If it is taken, go for adding a few numbers.

Here are free tips: after creating a username, make sure to generate a QR code with your Telegram account and save it on the phone wallpaper to use during networking at conferences and events. It is a great and easy way to share your contacts. Nowadays, nobody shares their phone number, only the messenger username or ID, which is enough to find you.

Global Telegram search is very convenient. Type any keyword, and it allows you to find any service or product. Unfortunately, only public channels are visible; groups are not found as they are private. Usually, channels allow followers to join the group to communicate with each other.
